        Residences at Wood Street

        Aggressive 16-week construction of 16 stories consisting of ADA renovations, electrical services, and the shut down of two city blocks

        Situated  in  Pittsburgh  on  the  corner  of  Third  Avenue  and  Wood  Street,  this  public  housing  project  was  publically  bid  and  awarded  to  Mosites  Construction  Company.    Floors  1-6  are  for  office  space  and  floors  7-16  provide  housing  for  individuals.Work  primarily  consisted  of  ADA  renovations,  new  fire  alarm  system,  new  HVAC,  new  electrical  service,  riser  piping  repair,  new  branch  piping  on  each  floor,  and  new  chillers.  The  schedule  was  aggressive  and  coordinated  by  Mosites  to  renovate  16  stories  of  occupied  housing  in  only  16  weeks,  allowing  only  three  weeks  per  floor  with  only  one  week  of  overlap  for  tenant  relocation.  Mosites  renovated  two  additional  stories  of  common  space;  the  first  floor  lobby,  and  ground  floor  cafeteria.      Mosites  partnered  with  the  mechanical  subcontractor  to  remove  and  replace  the  cooling  tower  on  the  7th  floor.    The  hoisting  plan  for  the  new  equipment  required  Mosites  to  shut  down  two  city  blocks  along  Third  Avenue,  setup  a  500  ton  over-the-road  crane,  and  33  blind  picks  over  the  16-story  building  down  to  the  7th  floor  mechanical  penthouse.    The  event  took  place  on  a  weekday  lasting  14  hours  to  set  the  new  equipment.
